13/02/2024

East Coast College has received funding to deliver an exciting new two-year project to create work-based opportunities in the health and social care sector for people living in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

By providing training and job coach support, East Coast College’s Apollo project is available to help people gain employment within a diverse range of rewarding jobs in the health and social care sector and provide free training for the local workforce to progress in their careers.

The project’s delivery approach is flexible for each individual and has been designed to make it as easy as possible for people looking to work or retrain to access established training and employment networks locally.

The project is already having a significant impact, providing a wide range of free training opportunities in areas including Care Certificate standards and sector-specific training such as Dementia Awareness, Understanding Cancer Care and Support and Understanding Mental Health.

By completing training through the Apollo project, local people are being equipped with the skills and knowledge required to provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care; enabling them to start a new job or switch careers across a range of roles in the NHS and the care sector.

Stuart Jennings, Curriculum Manager for Adult Skills and Projects at East Coast College, said: “The support this programme will provide will help many in our local communities join a highly-skilled, highly valued health and social care workforce. In doing so, we have brought together a range of opportunities that will help many people make a real difference to people they will be working with and in their communities.”

Anyone who would like help finding employment in the health and social sector or wishes to take part in training, can get in touch with East Coast College’s Apollo team by emailing [email protected] with your contact details or by giving the team a call on 01502 525177. The Apollo project is a partnership strategically led by East Coast College and delivered in collaboration with the College of West Anglia, City College Norwich, East Norfolk Sixth Form College, Suffolk New College and West Suffolk College.
