College: The College of West Anglia
The College of West Anglia is one of the largest providers of education and training in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, with campuses in King’s Lynn, Wisbech and Cambridge. We offer a wide range of vocational courses, apprenticeships, A-levels, degrees and part-time recreational courses for everyone. Our highly trained staff with industry experience and state-of-the-art facilities, provide environments and equipment of the standard you would experience in the workplace.
Our Apollo team can be found in our School of Nursing Studies, where we are focused on supporting the recruitment, retention and upskilling of people in the health and social care sector. We have been attending careers events in local schools, so far reaching over 3000 young people and talking about health and social care careers. Our support entails:
- Enhancing work-based learning and providing the use of state-of-the-art facilities and simulation suites
- Working with a variety of people including: the armed forces community, those in unpaid caring and voluntary roles
- Upskilling and mentoring those in existing jobs wanting to progress their health and social care career
- Launching in February 2024, our brand new Care Start programme supports the Care Certificate and enables learners to obtain a Level 2 Care of the Elderly award. The course will run across 6 weeks and provides an introduction to essential care skills. It will be supported with online masterclasses that cover CV and personal statement writing, interview skills and building strategies for self-care and resilience. Learners will also have access to job coaching and work familiarisation opportunities to further develop their skills
